Manual

1. Predict a reaction (reactants only)

  1. Type the reactants

Enter the starting substances in the Reactants box, separated by +. Leave the Products box empty.

    KMnO4 + HCl
  2. Add conditions (optional)

Type conditions such as heat, cold, catalyst, Pt, light, acidic, basic, excess, dilute or concentrated. They change which pathway is chosen.

    NH3 + O2 · conditions: Pt, heat
  3. Press Complete & Balance

The app predicts products from its built-in rules, balances the equation and shows the status, rule used and an explanation.

2. Balance an equation you already know

  1. Fill both sides

Type reactants and products, then press Balance equation. Any correct equation balances exactly — atoms and charge are both checked.

    C3H8 + O2 → CO2 + H2O
  2. Paste a whole equation

You can paste the full equation into the Reactants box with =, -> or →. The app splits it for you. A stray = at the end is ignored.

    KBrO3 + 5KBr + 6HCl=
  3. Short redox equations

Enter just the main redox species and pick the Redox medium (Auto / Acidic / Basic). H⁺, OH⁻ and water are added for you.

    MnO4- + Fe2+ → Mn2+ + Fe3+

3. How to type formulas

  1. Numbers become subscripts

H2SO4 shows as H₂SO₄. A number at the start is a coefficient (2H2O).

  2. Ions and charges

Write Fe3+, Cl-, SO4^2- or SO4 2-. Bracketed complexes work too.

    [Fe(CN)6]4- · K3[Co(NO2)6]
  3. Hydrates and double salts

    Use a dot.

    CuSO4.5H2O · CuSO4.Cu(OH)2
  4. Condensed organic notation

    Structural forms are understood.

    CH3-COOH · COONH4-COONH4
  5. Typing mistakes

If something looks wrong (Ci instead of Cl, 0 instead of O, (CH3COOH)2Pb instead of Pb(CH3COO)2) you get a 'Did you mean…?' banner. Nothing changes unless you click the suggestion.

4. Reading the result

  1. Confirmed

A specific built-in rule applies and the equation passed every check.

  2. Multiple possibilities

More than one known pathway fits. The app shows them and tells you which condition or ratio decides.

  3. Partially supported

The reaction type is recognised but the exact products need more information.

  4. Unsupported

No reliable rule exists. The app says so instead of guessing — enter the products yourself and it will balance them.

  5. Checks and breakdown

✓ Balanced · ✓ Atoms conserved · ✓ Charge conserved. Redox reactions also show oxidation numbers, both half-reactions and electron matching step by step.

5. Other tools on the main page

  1. Stoichiometry table

Enter a mass or moles for one substance; the app finds the limiting reagent and every other amount.

  2. Periodic table

Tap any of the 118 elements to see its data or insert it into your formula.

  3. Electrochemistry

Choose two half-cells to get E°cell, ΔG° and Nernst potentials.

  4. Kinetics

Rate laws, half-life, integrated rate equations and Arrhenius calculations.

  5. Saved reactions

When the app can't predict something, you can enter the answer and save it on this device. It is reused only after the built-in rules fail and is always re-checked.

  6. Works offline

Everything runs on your device. Install it from your browser menu and it works with Wi-Fi off.
